1948 Smith-Corona Super Speed
This is the second major variant of the L.C. Smith and Corona standard typewriter. Moving away from the older cast iron exterior frame machines of the 1910s-1930s, this new model features a thick sheet steel construction with body panels bearing the signature black crinkle finish and gloss black stripes of midcentury corona typewriters. Interesting to note is the circumflex key which also prints the degree symbol on caps.
This particular machine, like all corona standards, features a ball bearing for each individual key leaver, giving the touch a smooth and gliding feel. Even the carriage runs along two ball bearing tracks, giving you an effortless return.
The machine has been cleaned, repaired, adjusted, and serviced, and is ready to type right out of the box with a brand new black nylon ribbon. The paint is in lovely condition, with a few areas of scuffs or wear. The feet are still in good shape keeping the machine in place as you write, the only grievance would be the heavy handed backspace, but there are no mechanical defects at all with this machine.
