1953 Royal Quiet DeLuxe with Speed Control
This is an early Royal QDL with the iconic mid 50s design scheme. It types a lovely 12 pitch elite (12 characters to the inch, smaller) with a brand new two color ribbon. The color is the standard royal crinkle gray, and despite it’s history as a student used machine for highschool typing, it looks exceptional. Every function on this machine, including the early speed control knob, works exactly as it should. It has been cleaned, serviced, repaired and adjusted. New ball bearings have replaced the missing ones on the left side of the carriage, and have been installed properly so they won’t fall out, even on extreme ends.
It comes with the original tweed covered case, with a sharpie note from a high school classroom. It is hard to find machines with such clear stories such as this, and it serves as a wonderful reminder of the roll these machines played in the history of America. The touch control settings gives this machine the perfect tension for any typist, and is ready for the next american novel, or any long typing session.
