The SM9 was Olympia’s last flagship portable manual typewriter, and one of the finest manual typewriters ever made. This machine is noted for having the lightest keys of any manual typewriter, and among the finest print quality. Truly an exceptional machine for anyone who wants to do heavy writing, but doesn’t want to designate a lot of desk space to a large desktop typewriter. The SM9 is one of the few times that a portable can be recommended over a desktop for serious long-term writing sessions! The only downside is speed: not the fastest machine, tops out at around 90WPM or just over 100 if you have perfect technique!
This machine has been fully serviced and repaired following an in-depth chemical clean. It’s sparking, though shows sings of age and wear on internal finishes. The paint is immaculate though! Comes with the original carrying case, which has seen better days, and the original owner’s manual.
Features a brand new ribbon, and brand new rubber feet. The platen and feed rollers are still good to go, so this machine is cleared and ready to type right out of the box, for decades to come.
