$3,500.00
Sold Out

This is an incredibly rare find, the only one of it’s kind in the world. This script ‘27 Royal Portable is a custom creation, with each individual letter slug hand soldered into place, and a custom keyboard layout featuring an exclamation point as well as a right hand apostrophe. The type itself is 75 degree script from a 1950s Corona 5TE, and the conversion was designed to fit as seamlessly into the Royal as possible giving the tactile pleasure of writing on a first gen model P, along with the visual pleasure of a truly beautifully designed type face.

The machine itself comes with the original matching green case to compliant the alligator green paint finish. The typewriter has been professionally cleaned and serviced, and comes with a brand new single color nylon ribbon on original Royal Metal Spools, brand new feed rollers, and brand new feet courtesy of the late and wonderful Steve Dade. The platen is original with no cracks, pits, or slipping. It also has a color matched green felt key rest, a little touch of added detail to help make this machine special.

The typewriter arrives ready to type right out of the box. Below is a link to the creation of the machine, which was also featured in issue No. 129 of the Journal of the Early Typewriter Collector’s Association (the Summer 2020 issue of ETCetera). Also linked is a YouTube video showcasing everything the listing photos couldn’t.
